She cracked a smile. War against New York’s pests. As serious as it was, it sounded amusing in that moment. He was right, though. This was comparable to war. There was an enemy and the goal was to defeat them. It made it a little more interesting. Dutch happily took the two traps off of him.
“You’re quite serious about this business, aren’t you?” She asked, waiting for him to catch up to her before she made a move to carry the traps back up to her apartment. “It’s comforting, really, having someone around who knows what they’re doing.” It was a not so subtle compliment on her part. As soon as she’d said it, though, she broke eye contact with him to examine one of the traps she was holding. Dutch had never expected to actually be interested in pest extermination.
